Lessons learned from Italian clusters
Case studies of Italian SME clusters have been examined to get an idea of the variety of possible forms SME agglomerations may take. The type of cluster is shaped by the local environment and the sectorial concentration - different products require different production processes.

A paper by A.Williams prepared for the Innovation Systems Research Network (Toronto May 7, 2005) shows how metaphores used so far for describing clusters and the process of clustering may both reveal and conceal important aspects of their true nature.
Small industry clusters, technological capabilities and development: a seeding paper
A seeding paper by M.Caniels and H.Romijn from the Eindhoven Centre for Innovation Studies published in June 2001, tries to define a conceptual framework to relate small industry clusters, accumulation of technological capabilities and local development.
